God’s Perfect Beginning - The Garden of Eden

Text: Genesis 2–3

The Garden of Eden was the first home God prepared for people. It shows us God’s love, His plan for humanity, and why we need His help today.

God Created a Beautiful Home

God planted the Garden of Eden and placed Adam and Eve there.

It was full of beautiful trees and good food

There was no sickness, pain, or death

God walked with them

Everything they needed was provided

Lesson: God is a caring Father who provides good things for His children.

God Gave Freedom and One Rule

God allowed Adam and Eve to enjoy everything in the garden except one tree.

“You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.”

God’s rule was not to limit joy, but to teach trust and obedience.

Lesson: True freedom comes from trusting God and obeying Him.

The Choice in the Garden

The serpent tempted Eve.

He made her doubt God’s word

He made disobedience seem harmless

Adam and Eve chose to eat the fruit

Immediately, they felt shame and tried to hide.

Lesson: Sin often looks small, but it always brings separation from God.

God Seeks His People

Even after they sinned, God came looking for Adam and Eve.

“Where are you?”

God already knew where they were—but He wanted them to come to Him.

Lesson: God seeks us even when we fail.

The Consequences and the Hope

Adam and Eve had to leave the garden.

Life became difficult

Sin entered the world

But God showed mercy:

He clothed them

He promised a Savior who would defeat evil

Lesson: God’s love is greater than our mistakes.

What the Garden Teaches Us Today

God desires a close relationship with us

1. God’s commands are meant to protect us

2. Sin breaks fellowship with God

3. God still offers forgiveness and hope

God has a plan to restore what was lost

Conclusion

The Garden of Eden reminds us of what God wanted for us—peace, joy, and closeness with Him. Even though sin broke that perfect place, God has been working ever since to bring us back to Him.

Through Jesus, we can begin to walk with God again.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your love and care from the very beginning. Help us to trust You and follow Your ways. Thank You for the hope You give us. Amen.

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis summary

"Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis is a foundational Christian book that explains the core beliefs of Christianity in a clear and logical way. Originally based on a series of radio talks, Lewis avoids theological complexity and focuses on universal principles shared by most Christian denominations. It’s aimed at both believers and skeptics, offering a reasoned argument for faith. 1. The Moral Law and God’s Existence Lewis begins by arguing that all humans have an inherent sense of right and wrong, which he calls the "Moral Law." This universal moral sense points to the existence of a moral God who created the universe. The Moral Law isn’t a product of human culture or instinct but something deeper and universal. 2. What Christians Believe Christianity asserts that Jesus is the Son of God who came to Earth to save humanity. Humanity is flawed and sinful, but through Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, people can be reconciled with God. Lewis emphasizes that Christianit...
